Announcements
Operations → Announcements is where staff post planned maintenance, incidents and notices. Posting needs the “Announcements” permission.
Kinds
| Kind | How it works |

| Maintenance window | Planned work with a start and end. It can put its nodes into maintenance mode for exactly the window: it starts and ends on its own, and only undoes what it changed. Upcoming maintenance can be cancelled, and affected customers are told. |
| Incident | Starts now and gets a timeline: post updates, then mark it resolved. |

Who it reaches
Everyone, some locations, or specific nodes. Before you post, the form shows how many servers and customers that is. Notify optionally sends a notification (and email, for people who get that topic by email) to every affected customer.
What customers see
Customers only see what reaches their servers, and see locations, never node names:
- a Status page: now, coming up, and the last 7 days
- a dismissible banner for an ongoing incident, current maintenance, or maintenance in the next 2 days
- a notice on each affected server’s Overview
Notifications
The bell at the top of the sidebar shows what happened to a person’s servers and account. Notifications come from the same events as webhooks, so they never disagree:
- Customers: a server is ready, suspended or back, terminated, reinstalled, changed package or got an address; backups failed; planned maintenance; traffic used up; new sign-ins.
- Resellers: also when a quota passes 90%.
- Staff: a node stops answering or its storage degrades, a node goes into maintenance, a transfer fails, a reseller fills a quota, an IP pool passes 90%.
Each topic can also be emailed. Security emails are always on.
