Terms of service
Last updated October 16, 2026
These terms are between you and VorticPanel ("we", "us"), and cover your account on this website and the VorticPanel licenses you get here. By making an account, starting a trial or buying a license, you agree to them. If you're agreeing for a company, you're confirming you can bind it.
The software and your license
- VorticPanel is a control panel you install and run on your own servers. A license lets you use it on one panel install, for the nodes it covers, while it's active.
- A license is per node: it covers a number of nodes, each either with no limit on servers or with up to a set number, as shown when you buy it. The panel checks the license with this website about once an hour.
- A license is for you and the business you run with it. You may host servers for your own customers, but you may not resell, sublicense or share the license itself, or use one key on more than one panel at a time.
- The software stays ours. You may not remove or get around the license check, or copy, change or redistribute the panel except as its documentation allows.
- We don't host or run your panel, your nodes or your customers' servers, and we have no way to sign in to them. Everything the panel does runs on servers you control.
Free trial
Each person and business gets one free trial: 15 days on up to 3 nodes. To prevent repeat trials we may ask for a card (it isn't charged) and keep fingerprints of the card, your email and the servers the trial runs on. When the trial ends, the panel's admin area locks until you buy a license.
Paying
- Licenses are paid monthly or yearly in advance, in US dollars, by card through Stripe. Prices are on the pricing page and can change; a change applies from your next renewal, and we'll tell you before it does.
- Your license renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time under Billing in your account, and the license keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Prices don't include taxes, which are added where the law requires.
- Refunds are covered by our refund policy.
When a license lapses
If a payment fails or a license ends, the panel's admin area locks for your staff. Your customers, their servers, consoles and backups, and your nodes keep running. New servers stop being created 14 days after a paid license lapses. Renewing the license unlocks the panel.
Updates and support
Updates are included while your license is active, installed from the panel itself. Support is by ticket from your account, on a best-effort basis. We aim to answer within one business day but don't promise a response time unless we've agreed one with you in writing.
Your responsibilities
- Keep your account details accurate and your password safe. You're responsible for what's done with your account and your license key.
- You run your panel and nodes, and securing them is up to you. That includes system updates, SSH and other sign-ins, firewalls, and which of your staff can do what in the panel.
- Your customers are yours. We have no agreement with them and don't support them. Their service, support, billing, complaints, abuse reports and any legal requests about them are yours to handle, under your own terms with them.
- Run the panel lawfully, and don't use it, or let your customers use it, for abuse such as spam, malware or attacks on others.
- Keep your own backups. The panel can back up your customers' servers, but looking after your data and your servers is your responsibility.
Claims about your service
If one of your customers, or anyone else, makes a claim against us because of the service you provide with the panel, how you or your customers use it, or your breach of these terms, you'll cover what it costs us, including reasonable legal fees and any amount we have to pay.
Suspension and ending
We may suspend or revoke a license if it's been shared, used to get around the license check, paid for with a disputed or fraudulent payment, or used in serious breach of these terms. Where we can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to put it right. You can stop using the software and close your account at any time.
Warranty and liability
We work hard to make VorticPanel reliable, but it's provided "as is", without warranties of any kind beyond those the law doesn't let us exclude. We don't promise it's free of bugs or security flaws, or that it suits any particular use. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue, customers or data, downtime, or harm from a security incident on your servers, even if we were told they might happen. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it.
Changes
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here, and for changes that matter we'll email account holders before they apply. Carrying on using a license after that means you accept the new terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, and its courts deal with any dispute about them.
